Issues with Microsoft Word 2010 and Oracle BI Publisher 11.1.1 for PeopleSoft – Part 2

Installation went fine, but still not able to view BI Publisher tab in Microsoft Word 2010? Do you see the BI Publisher tab, but there are buttons with text menu2007.logon etc.,?

If part 1 of this post doesn’t work, try this:

In Microsoft Word 2010,Navigate to File > Options

In the Word Options dialog box that opens, Click on the Trust Center button on the left

Click on the Trust Center Settings button

Select on the Enable all macros (not recommended; potentially dangerous code can run) radio button and click OK

If the BI Publisher tab, still does not appear:

Important : Ensure there are no instances of Word running before performing the following steps– otherwise you would get an error message as follows:

3

Start > Oracle BI Publisher Desktop > Enable or Disable Template Builder

Check if the following message box is being displayed

4

Click on the first Button1 button

You would get a message like this:

5

Again, go to Start > Oracle BI Publisher Desktop > Enable or Disable Template Builder

6

Open a new instance of Word 2010 and ensure you have a BI Publisher tab as shown in the screenshot below:

Hopefully, this should resolve your issue. 🙂

And yes, almost forgot. If you are on a remote desktop server, ensure everyone accessing the server do not have instance of Word 2010 open. In some cases, this would be an issue and in some cases not an issue at all. But, ensure there are no instances of Word 2007/2010 running while you do the installation or toggle between enabling and disabling Template Builder.

Have fun!!

thank you, I’ve gotten to that part but I cannot seem to “Log On”. I error “Error while trying to access Report Server Location. Object reference not set to an instance of the object”

Are you trying to load a template for use by PeopleSoft? Can you please list the steps to replicate your issue?

      • Ruthie says:

No, I’m just trying to connect my BI Publisher to my MS Word.
I click log on then use RPTUSER1 for username and RPTUSER1 for password (as those are my credentials in BIP), then I put http://localhost:7001/xmlpserver in the Report Server, and then I get the mentioned Error.

Kudos…. It worked. Thanks a lot

    Hi all,
i have a similar situation. I have Windows 7 with MS Word 2016, PS Tool 8.5.4 and PeopleSoft 9.0
My Laptop is 64 bit. The BI Publisher 64 bit cannot installed and asks me to switch to 32 bit version. I install 32 bit BI Publisher with no issues.
But the BI Publisher does not show up in MS Word. When I try to add it manually from ad-ins in Word, I do not have the Templatebuilder.dot file in my laptop. It has not copied by the BI Publisher installation program.

I really appreciate your help on this frustrating issue.
    Thanks
