Windows 10 – Current window loses focus while typing

This issue occurred when there was an update for the Synaptics TrackPad driver. I had somehow messed with the update and that caused issues with how the laptop’s trackpad behaved.

When I continued to type, that particular window will lose focus and whatever I type would not appear. To resolve this issue, all I had to do was update the device driver of my wireless mouse as well as the TrackPad.

Here are the steps:

  1. Open up the Run prompt, type Control Panel
  2. Click on Hardware and Sound
  3. Click on Device Manager
  4. Expand Mice and other Pointing Device
  5. Right click on the devices listed and select Update Driver Software…
  6. If the system detects a change and an update has been installed, you would be prompted for a system reboot.

Once this is done, it should resolve the window out of focus issue that occurs in Windows 10.

Hope this helps! Have fun, people! 🙂

Found this article on a google search for the exact issue except I had a Lenovo trackpad mouse. Tried and it worked – thank you!! One oddity was that I got a dialog telling me the driver was up to date…then a prompt to restart the computer anyway. After restart all was good.

Thank you! I got the same results as @A Happy Customer. I’m assuming Windows just omits telling you it found and installed an update; it just tells you its up to date. The hint is if you get the prompt. I did not get a prompt when checking the mouse.
